Overview
This download contains a fully prepared finite element model of a human wrist with a ReMotion total wrist implant. Geometry is CT-derived, and the implant was modeled from the manufacturer’s dimensions. The model includes the contact/interaction definitions, tendon/ligament modeling approach, and loading steps.
Why is this product useful
- Saves weeks of geometry cleanup and meshing for anyone who needs a realistic wrist + implant FE setup.
- Includes realistic loading/BCs for motion phases so you can run comparative or parametric studies quickly.
- Handy for biomechanics researchers, implant designers, and CAE engineers evaluating stress distribution, implant fixation, or design changes.
What’s included
- INP file (mesh prepared in HyperMesh; wedge elements). Ready to open in Abaqus, Ansys, and Ls-dyna.
- Model setup: pre-defined contact/interactions, tendon loads, ligament spring definitions, boundary conditions, and step definitions.
- Documentation: the full document (detailed methods, material properties, contact definitions, mesh convergence, and validation results) describing how the model was created and validated.
Compatibility
- Directly compatible with Abaqus (INP input File).
- Mesh and INP can be translated to ANSYS or LS-DYNA
Quick start
- Open the INP in Abaqus CAE (or import via HyperMesh).
- Check element types & material assignments in your solver.
- Run the included DTM steps (radial-extension → neutral → ulnar-flexion) or adapt loads for your study.
- Use the File documentation for detailed BCs, contact settings, ligament stiffness values and mesh convergence results.
